Reception for Ward and
Sjovold exhibitions
Saturday, August 16
3:00 to 5:00

Anne Ward’s contemporary take on genre painting is a discovery of shape, color and pattern in everyday life. Her still life paintings feature sunflowers and roses on decorative tablecloth backdrops patterned with cherries and birds. Pop color guides her palette, which cools in the landscape paintings. Rest for quiet moments in Ward’s serene and dreamy landscapes of Ojai and Maine.

Erling Sjovold’s Old River, New Shore series tells the narrative of a river over time through plein air portraits and abstract deconstructions. Sjovold creates defined realist landscapes and larger abstractions of that same river featuring vibrant variations of brushstroke and color, depicting the river from two excitingly different points of view.
