Susan Petty
October 8–November 21, 2010
Marcia Burtt Gallery is delighted to present “Sycamores” by Susan Petty, opening with a reception on Friday, October 8, from 5:00 to 7:00.
Petty’s newest drawings and paintings focus on one of the most majestic elements of our California landscape, portraying these native trees in their monumentality and grace.
Her home is on a lemon ranch in Saticoy where she visited as a child and young adult. “I paint where I live, both literally and figuratively,” she says. “The California landscape, its details, and my garden are my greatest inspirations.”
Petty works in watercolor, oil, and her first love, drawing, in a straightforward style that lets the image take center stage.
“Sycamores” will run through Sunday, November 21.
