Marcia Burtt & Patricia Doyle
November 16 – December 27, 2007
Doyle will show several new Pacific Rim paintings. The first paintings in this series were included as part of the January 2000 inaugural exhibition at Lacuna Gallery, as the Burtt Studio was then called. Paintings from that series have been exhibited there every year since.
Pacific Rim refers to an ongoing exploration of patterns and situations created by the light, tides and atmosphere of our Pacific beaches. The paintings may include figures or architecture along with the landscape and usually involve a measure of abstraction.
In 1995 Lake Cachuma was at its highest and Doyle recorded the event in photographs. Now after a year of record-breaking drought, she has created a series of small paintings based on those images of plenty.
Burtt’s work focuses on pond, river, rocky shores and beaches, although she will also include a number of ranch paintings.
A reception will be held on Friday evening, November 16, from 5:00 to 8:00. The exhibition continues through December 27, 2007.
