Summer-inspired art fills the gallery for our winter exhibition, bringing brilliance and warmth.

The heat and clear skies of summer are more than simply replicated in these paintings, photographs, and drawing. Rather, a new season is created from sun shining through golden waves, from turquoise oceans, and from cobalt blue skies. Desert purples and oranges repeat in cut-flower petals. Bright golden strokes form dry grasses, thin into a wash for wet sand, and thicken into painterly rocky coasts.

Overlooks and overgrown trails are beyond reach. Cross-hatched trees support a hammock woven from pencil; shades of grey emphasize that these places are impossible to return to.

Greater than nostalgia for a summer’s day, these works create a new experience through tactile materials and the unique perspectives of our gallery artists.
