FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DONALD ARCHER

May 3 – June 8, 2008

Opening Reception  Friday, May 2, 5:00 to 8:00

Marcia Burtt Studio presents recent work by Cambria-based artist Donald Archer. The exhibition opens with a reception from 5:00 to 8:00 on Friday, May 2 and can be viewed during regular gallery hours from May 3 through June 8.

Donald Archer received his MFA from the University of California at Santa Barbara and afterward taught for ten years, six of them as an instructor in fine art at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

This series is part of Archer’s ongoing formal exploration of landscape in watercolor and tempera and was inspired by a train trip from California to New York. “Experiencing the land from the train is tactile and engaging. The landscape flashes by in fleeting glimpses and I was forced to discover its essence in moments of visual poetry, like Japanese Haiku.”

An opening reception will take place Friday, May 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 at Marcia Burtt Studio. Regular studio hours are Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 5:00.
