Robert Abbott

Robert Abbott was born and raised in Carpinteria. He attended UCSB's College of Creative Studies, where he studied art and writing, graduating with a degree in literature in 1999. The son of an artist and a farmer, the outdoor environment has always been a central part of his life. He currently spends his time growing avocados, flowers and vegetables on the farm where he grew up, and painting as much as possible.

Robert describes his paintings as meditations on time and space, as well as a record of human impact -- good or bad -- on the environment. Simultaneously, they are explorations of composition, color, light and shadow (and small country roads).
